AusIndustry has a number of guidance products available to help you self-assess whether your R&D activities meet the eligibility criteria to claim the R&D Tax Incentive. It is important that you familiarise yourself with the guidance material as it contains valuable information to support you in claiming the R&D Tax Incentive. Ensuring that your company is eligible for the R&D Tax Incentive is your responsibility
The R&D Tax Incentive is a self-assessment program and it is important that you understand the eligibility criteria when registering for the program.
If you are using a tax agent or R&D consultant to assist you with registering for the RDTI it is important to understand that your company remains responsible for your registration and you should familiarise yourself with the AusIndustry guidance.
Reviewing your claims for the R&D Tax Incentive
From time to time, AusIndustry and the Australian Taxation Office may undertake compliance action on registrations for the R&D Tax Incentive to ensure that companies are claiming only R&D activities and expenditure that is eligible for the RDTI.
If you are notified that your registration is undergoing compliance action then it is important that you have information available to support the eligibility of your R&D activities.
Keeping accurate records that are taken at the time of conducting your R&D activities is important in supporting the eligibility of your RDTI registration.
